KERSHAW, S.C. – Kershaw Area Resource Exchange (KARE), a longstanding crisis assistance non-profit serving neighbors in Lancaster, Kershaw, and Chesterfield counties, is excited to announce the Grand Opening of its new and improved thrift operations, the Exchange by KARE, at 405 S. Hampton St, Kershaw. The public is invited to the event taking place on Tuesday, July 9 at 8:30am.
Joining KARE in the Grand Opening will be Kershaw Family Pharmacy, KARE’s new lessee in the pharmacy section of the Exchange. The Grand Opening will include a ribbon cutting by Kershaw’s Chamber of Commerce and attendance by local elected leaders. Attendees can look forward to food trucks, giveaways, and special store discounts throughout the day.
The expansion and celebration are made possible in part by the efforts of local House Representatives Cody Mitchell, Brandon Newton, and Richie Yow, who secured state funding in September 2023 for the acquisition and renovation of the Exchange’s new location. Revenue generated by the store, coupled with grants and charitable contributions, sustains KARE’s critical community services.
For 42 years, KARE has been a pillar of support, offering crisis assistance, hunger relief, and essential resources to empower community members towards financial independence. The Exchange by KARE’s new location represents not only a new chapter in KARE’s services but also a vibrant hub for thrift shopping that directly contributes to funding the organization’s mission-driven programs.
The Grand Opening invites the public to witness and participate in the growth of a vital community resource, highlighting KARE’s ongoing dedication to meeting the needs of their neighbors in times of crisis and beyond.
